Cheryl brings a varied background to her work. Prior to becoming an acupuncturist, she loaded trucks for UPS, was an administrative assistant for an international car show, and worked in production, sales, and marketing for a kayak manufacturer. Through those experiences, she learned how much she enjoys helping others solve problems and achieve better outcomes.
Cheryl graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in General Studies (1998), and earned her Master of Acupuncture degree from the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (2001). She holds a Certificate of Completion in Advanced Japanese Acupuncture in the Tradition of Kiiko Matsumoto & Master Nagano (2023). She has been an NCCAOM Diplomate of Acupuncture since October 2001. The NCCAOM is a national organization that validates practitioner competency and requires acupuncturists to complete 60 continuing education units every four years.
Cheryl is an avid reader of numerous health-related topics and continually strives to learn more to better serve her patients, often joking that she wishes she didn’t have to sleep so she could study more! In addition to Japanese Acupuncture, her special interests include nutrition, digestive health, preventative care, overcoming burnout, and helping patients find ways to increase and maintain mobility.
Outside of the office, Cheryl enjoys being in nature, trying out new recipes, reading, and getting together with friends and family. She also enjoys hiking, road trips, and jigsaw puzzles. She’s always busy with something!
What I’m Currently Studying
Advanced Channel Theory – This course will give me more tools for identifying and correcting channel imbalances. I’m very excited about taking it, because it dovetails well with my Japanese Acupuncture skill set.
Koshi Balancing –. Koshi Balancing is another treatment approach within Japanese Acupuncture. It focuses on identifying and treating imbalances in the lumbar and pelvic region.
